KWINC Grotesk — Bold, Dimensional, and Witty
KWINC Grotesk marks the first collaboration between Karlssonwilker, the acclaimed New York design studio, and Sudtipos. Founded in 2000 by Hjalti Karlsson and Jan Wilker, Karlssonwilker is known for a signature mix of narrative, humor, and cultural insight across a wide range of design projects. This release brings that perspective into a contemporary grotesk with a clear point of view and a lively typographic voice.
Members of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, Hjalti and Jan have long shared creative conversations with Ale Paul of Sudtipos. Those conversations now take form in a typeface inspired by vernacular dimensional letters found in U.S. home improvement stores. KWINC Grotesk pairs playful energy with practical function. The uppercase feels striking and expressive, while the lowercase brings an old-style character supported by a multitude of typographic features.
With 9 weights, accompanying italics, and a variable font option, KWINC Grotesk stays distinct across layouts and scales. It fits projects that move between culture and commerce, where tone matters as much as clarity. Set it loud for headlines or let it carry longer text with quiet personality and control. It brings depth and character without losing its working rhythm.
